5 valuable tips for your event with live music

With over 1,200 live performances across Switzerland, we know which details make an evening special. Here we share practical tips on soundchecks, volume, lighting, room layout and a well-planned schedule.

Soundchecks at events: how much time should you allow?

A common source of stress at events is guests arriving while the equipment is still being set up. Coordinate with the band and venue early on to agree when setup and the soundcheck can take place.

Our tip: Take the conditions at the venue into account. Stairs, narrow streets or a lack of parking and unloading facilities can significantly increase the time needed to move and set up equipment. Allow enough time for everything to be ready before guests arrive and for an unhurried soundcheck.

The right live music for your event

Music brings people together and creates emotion. It should suit your occasion and match the mood of your guests. A varied repertoire allows the band to respond to the audience and help shape the evening.

Our tip: Choose a live band with a versatile repertoire. This gives them the flexibility to respond to your guests, add musical surprises and play the songs that turn a lovely evening into an unforgettable party. With our extensive repertoire, we keep finding the right note, from relaxed moments to a packed dance floor.

How loud should a live band be at an event?

At corporate events and weddings in particular, guests want to chat without having to raise their voices over the music. A professional live band adapts the volume to the moment: subtle during the drinks reception and dinner, more energetic when the party begins.

Our tip: Schedule the live band for the right moment. After the main course is often an ideal time to start the party. Let the atmosphere build and avoid unplanned programme items that interrupt the momentum. Give the band and your guests time to celebrate, with a volume that suits the moment and gradually brings the dance floor to life.

Lights down, party on!

Lighting has a major influence on the atmosphere of an event. Bright room lighting works well for the reception or dinner. Once the live band gets the party going and the dance floor comes to life, the lighting can become darker, warmer and more atmospheric.

Our tip: We bring our own professional stage and dance floor lighting to create a lively party atmosphere. Discuss the lighting plan with the venue in advance and establish who can operate the room lights during the event. This makes it easy to adapt the lighting to the schedule, from comfortable brightness during dinner to atmospheric, dimmed lighting when the party starts.

Planning your dance floor and room layout

The size of the room matters, but so does its layout. Thoughtful placement of tables, the bar and the dance floor creates a welcoming atmosphere. Guests come closer together, with the focus where the energy should be: on the live band and the dance floor.

Our tip: Plan the room layout carefully. A central dance floor, well-positioned tables and a nearby bar keep distances short and encourage guests to mingle. Make sure the band is clearly visible and there is enough space for the stage, equipment and dance floor. This creates an atmosphere that invites everyone to celebrate together.

Line-ups & occasions

Which line-up suits our event?

The Deean Special is particularly well suited to wedding ceremonies and featured performances. For wedding receptions, corporate events and private celebrations, we usually perform as a Trio, Quartet or Quartet Deluxe. We will be happy to help you find the line-up that matches your ideas.

What is the difference between the Trio and the Quartet?

Our Trio features vocals, piano, bass and drums. The Quartet adds guitar to the band sound. The Quartet Deluxe includes an additional female vocalist for a wider vocal range and duets.

Can you provide music for both our ceremony and wedding reception?

From the ceremony with the Deean Special to the reception with the band, we tailor the music to the schedule of your day. You can book both with us.

Planning & equipment

How much space does the band need?

Duo: 3 × 2.5 m
Trio: 5 × 2.5 m
Quartet: 6 × 2.5 m

These dimensions are a guide. When setting up in a corner, the space can be arranged differently. We have always found a solution, even in tight spaces. We will work with you and the venue to make the best use of the available room.

Whether it is an intimate celebration or a large audience, we adapt our setup and equipment to your event and the space available.

Large events are part of what we do too, with a suitable stage setup and sound equipment for the whole venue.

How does setup work on the day?

We agree the setup time with you and the venue in advance, taking access, equipment transport routes and your schedule into account. Ideally, setup and the soundcheck are complete before guests arrive.

Do you also perform outdoors?

We are happy to perform at outdoor events too. We need a dry, level surface, a suitable power supply and a weather-protected space for the band and equipment. We will discuss the conditions with you and the venue.
